Upon listening to Kim's voice later, more objectively, I decided that, at the very worst, she was a little 'all over the place'. Nothing shocking, but according to my friends it was the worst singing they had ever heard!
I was shocked to hear someone say this.
I wanted to begin a conversation about Kim's singing ability - not in a negative way - but openly and objectively.
Personally, I think a few songs were clearly out of her range, but for the most part Kim has a great range and a more than competent ability to hold a note. Her voice is unique and beautiful on mnay songs as we all know.
Anyone interested in mentioning the songs that make the most of her abilities, and those that clearly were a challenge?
Personal low points:
"The Thrill of it" is one of Kims weakest vocals for me. Thin, reedy and barely audible at times.
She is out of key on "I've Got So Much Love", after the instrumental, before the repeat Chorus to fade section. It makes me cringe every time.
The middle 8 in 'Take Me Tonight' is clearly too much for her to handle!
"I can't say goodbye" - round of applause for tackling a power ballad the likes of Kylie and Madonna wouldn't even dare attempt alone in the shower, and succeeding.
Cmon Love Me - Tender, sweet and sexy voice - like no other vocal she has done before or since.
Thought it was goodbye - much emotion in the voice here, it really makes the song.
Falling out - what a pair of lungs!
Don't say nothings changed - simply divine
I think Kim excels at balladry with her voice generally.
